„If you want something done, don’t expect everything from others, do it yourself“
Andreas Remmelberger’s farm has been in the family since 1507 and has been passed on to a son or daughter without interruption ever since. In 2018 Andreas took over the farm has been running it full-time since then together with his parents.
In addition to the farm, the trained ecomaster also devotes himself to voluntary posts. „I have taken on many voluntary positions. For example, I have been active in the fire brigade for 23 years and have been responsible for training firefighters for 15 years. I also spent eight years in the parish council and six years in the supervisory board of our inn cooperation in Asten. I kind of need this to balance out the farm work.“, explains the Biokreis farmer.
But there is a lot of work on the farm. In the fields of Andreas you will not only find oats and spelt, but also brewing barley for the Stein brewery and rye for the Bruckmühle. He also grows clover grass for 30 dairy cows.
The conversion to bio took place before Andreas took over the farm in 1983. But he fully supports organic farming.
„I like beeing an organic farmer because it is the only way for me to operate sustainable agriculture“, he tells us.
